Composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Willie Dowling was a founder member of Honeycrack and the Dowling Poole. He’s toured with or produced acts as diverse as The Wildhearts, Hot Chocolate and Dr Hook, amongst many others. His solo album piano-driven songs The Simpleton was released in 2024 – a venture which showcased his songwriting chops to full effect.

Dowling has also carved out a parallel career, as a composer for film and television, including shows such as Green Wing, Big Train, and Reeves and Mortimer’s Catterick. One of his finest scores is for Steve Coogan’s 2001 BBC 2 comedy-horror anthology series Dr. Terrible’s House of Horrible.

This soundtrack has never been available until now: the 25th anniversary of the show’s original broadcast, Heaven’s Lathe are proud to release this first volume of music from the show. From the sumptuous string arrangements and decorous harp and spinet of ‘Lesbian Vampire Lovers of Lust’, to the dramatic piano work of ‘Voodoo Feet of Death’, via the hand percussion and gongs of ‘Frenzy of Tongs’, this is a relentlessly inventive collection.
