‘The Incidents’ was a one-off sci-fi drama commissioned for BBC2 in 1973: starring Peter Wyngarde, Wanda Ventham and Jean Marsh, written by Tony Barwick, and directed by Michael Ferguson.
Dr. Marcus Grey (Wyngarde), is director of a laboratory investigating Fexux: a potential new energy source, emanating from an Iron Age fort. However, when Fexux unleashes strange sexual desires amongst the laboratory’s staff, Grey is unable to control it. Could some ancient alien force be manifesting itself in our world, via a series of orgiastic rituals?
There were multiple complaints about the teleplay, ultimately leading to the BBC Director General banning ‘The Incidents’ from being screened. It remains unseen to this day.
However, here are four pieces from ‘The Incidents’ unheard soundtrack. Composed by the legendary Reg Ormroyd, and performed by The Lounge Bar Orchestra, this is strange, sophisticated and sensual music.
“Gorgeous arrangements and imaginative realisation. This is truly fine music that will only grow in stature.” – Louder Than War
